The Strategic Challenge of the EU: Enhancing Sustainable Growth while Strengthening Economic Security – November 27, 2024
Wednesday, November 27, 2024 14:00 - 18:00
To be defined
Since the COVID pandemic and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the global environment has changed radically as security issues have moved to the forefront in terms of their impact on the global economy. This new world has created difficult challenges for the EU, whose institutions had been designed to operate in a rules-based world very different from today's.
Europe faces two key challenges in the new turbulent world: enhancing defense and economic security, on the one hand, and strengthening sustainable growth and competitiveness, on the other.
The Luiss Institute for European Analysis and Policy is launching a project on Economy and Security. The aim is to bring together experts from different fields (economics, finance, security studies, international relations) to develop in a flexible way an analysis of the new challenges facing the global system and Europe in particular. This first workshop will lay the groundwork for the development of a discussion on the general theme of the nexus between economy and security in EU strategy.
