The establishment of the Luiss Hub for New Industrial Policy and Economic Governance
Luiss Guido Carli is pleased to announce the establishment of the Luiss Hub for New Industrial Policy and Economic Governance (LUHNIP), which was made possible thanks to a generous grant obtained from the Berlin-based think tank Dezernat Zukunft (DZ) by a new colleague, Dr. Donato Di Carlo.
LUHNIP is an integral part of the broader transformation of the Luiss School of European Political Economy into Think Tank Europe, a new institute focusing on European economic governance, industrial policy, the digital transition and sustainable growth.
As an interdisciplinary hub at the crossroads of Political Economy, Law and Economics, LUHNIP will be embedded in the European Macro Policy Network (EMPN), an inner-European network of institutions aimed at fostering discussions on financial, monetary and economic policy. LUHNIP will conduct research, policy advocacy and public engagement activities, specializing in two issues of growing international relevance: the European Union’s new industrial policy and the new forms of industrial policy for Italy’s economic renaissance.
The collaboration with Dezernat Zukunft was officialized during the meeting held in Rome on Wednesday March 29, 2023 between SEP's Dean Professor Valentina Meliciani, Dezernat's Director Philippa Sigl-Glöckner and LUHNIP’s manager Dr. Donato Di Carlo.
"We are very much looking forward to the partnership with Luiss University, the newly funded Think Tank Europe and Dr. Donato Di Carlo. Luiss University is a highly ranked and prestigious University with a strong track record in interdisciplinary research and close ties to Italy’s policy community. Think Tank Europe's Dean, Professor Valentina Meliciani, is an internationally established scholar in industrial and international economics. Dr. Donato Di Carlo is an internationally renowned expert at the intersection of industrial, fiscal and labor market policy. We couldn’t be happier to have found them and are excited to see LUHNIP developing into one of Europe’s prime centers of thought for industrial policy.” - Philippa Sigl-Glöckner
“We are excited to start the partnership with Dezernat Zukunft and its director, Philippa Sigl-Glöckner. It is a great opportunity for Luiss Think Tank Europe to be part of the European Macro Policy Network through the Luiss Hub for New Industrial Policy and Economic Governance (LUHNIP) led by Dr. Di Carlo and to animate debates around European industrial and economic policy.” - Valentina Meliciani
"I am humbled by the trust accorded to me and I cherish the establishment of this new international partnership between Luiss Think Tank Europe and Dezernat Zukunft. I look forward to working together with Think Tank Europe's Dean Professor Valentina Meliciani and all the other brilliant colleagues from Luiss, as well as cooperating internationally with Dezernat Zukunft and the partners of the European Macro Policy Network." - Donato Di Carlo
