Ignazio Visco joins LEAP’s Scientific Council

The Luiss Research Center for European Analysis and Policy (LEAP) is particularly honored to welcome Ignazio Visco as a member of the Center’s Scientific Council.

Ignazio Visco is Honorary Governor of the Bank of Italy and Corresponding Member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. He served as Governor of the Bank of Italy for two terms, from November 2011 to October 2023.

Over the course of his career he has held a number of senior positions at the Bank of Italy, which he joined in 1972, and served as Chief Economist and Director of the Economics Department at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) from 1997 to 2002, before returning to the Bank of Italy as Deputy General Manager and later Governor.

His extensive expertise in monetary policy, central banking, international economics and European economic governance will further strengthen LEAP’s research activities, contributing to the Center’s mission of advancing policy-oriented research on Europe’s major economic and institutional challenges.

We look forward with great enthusiasm to the invaluable contribution Ignazio Visco will make to LEAP’s research on European economic governance and public policy.
